چکیده

Background: Neonatal jaundice is a very common condition. Serious unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia may result in neurological dysfunction as catastrophic kernicterus. Phototherapy the method of choice treatment hyperbilirubinemia. Aim and objectives: aim study was to assess accuracy transcutaneous bilirubin measurement during phototherapy by using skin patch comparing this with serum at same time. Subjects methods: This an observational prospective conducted special care baby unit Al-wahda teaching hospital –Derna-Libya over period nine months (June 1st 2021 March 2022).Eighty (80) newborn (41 Male, 39 Female) were enrolled .Transcutaneous from sternum, under Rt. Side chest, simultaneously sample collected. Results: phototherapy; mean± SD TSB (14.94 ± 4.57 μmol/L) TCBC (13.52 4.84) level 9.45 3.62. Bland–Altman plot showed significant agreement between TcB patched site Conclusion: TCB measurements correlate strongly levels after PT.

Transcutaneous bilirubinometry in preterm infants receiving phototherapy.

The accuracy of transcutaneous bilirubin (TcB) measurements obtained with a Bilicheck device in 70 preterm neonates before phototherapy and during phototherapy from the exposed and unexposed skin of the forehead (under the eye patch) was evaluated by comparing the TcB with the total serum bilirubin (TSB) that was performed within +/- 30 minutes of the TcB measurements. The correlation and propo...

Diagnostic Usefulness of Transcutaneous Bilirubinometry in Very Preterm Newborns

BACKGROUND This study was performed to find out whether transcutaneous bilirubinometry could be a valid screening method for hyperbilirubinemia in preterm infants, especially for those who needed mechanical ventilation. METHODS We evaluated 63 preterm Iranian newborns who were managed in the neonatal intensive care unit of Shahidbeheshti University Hospital, Isfahan, Iran from April 2009 to A...

Transcutaneous Bilirubinometry in Preterm and Term Newborn Infants before and during Phototherapy.

INTRODUCTION To evaluate the accuracy of transcutaneous bilirubin measurement in a large population of newborn infants, before and during the phototherapy. PATIENTS AND METHODS A single Bilicheck instrument was used for transcutaneous measurements. A photo-opaque patch was positioned over the measurement site prior to starting phototherapy. Transcutaneous bilirubinometry was conducted on an u...

Hyperbilirubinemia and transcutaneous bilirubinometry.

BACKGROUND Neonatal jaundice or hyperbilirubinemia is a common occurrence in newborns. Although most cases of neonatal jaundice have a benign course, severe hyperbilirubinemia can lead to kernicterus, which is preventable if the hyperbilirubinemia is identified early and treated appropriately. CONTENT This review discusses neonatal jaundice and the use of transcutaneous bilirubin (TcB) measur...
